Italian sausages with caramelized onions and apples
As fall is slowly refreshing our shortening days, it’s the perfect inspiration for a hearty lunch, using the sweet and savoury combination of caramelized apples and onions on my Cuisinart 360 XL griddle.
Add some italian sausages and you will have a delicious meal to warm your heart and bring comfort to your table.
Italian sausages with caramelized onions and apples
Equipment
- 360 XL Griddle Outdoor Cooking Station (Cuisinart)
Ingredients
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 5 italian sausages cut into ½ inch slices
- 1 tbsp unsalted butter
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 small white onion thinly sliced
- 2 apples peeled, cored and thinly sliced
- 2 tbsp apple cider
- salt & pepper to taste
- Italian parsley for garnishing
Instructions
- Thinly slice the onion and the apples and set aside in a bowl.
- Cut the italian sausages into ½ inch slices.
- Start your griddle at hi and oil the surface.
- Cook the italian sausages on one side and put the apples and onions on the other side.
- Add the brown sugar on the apples and onions and stir.
- Add some apple cider on top of the sausages.
- Once the onions and apples starts to caramelize, stir them with the italian sausages.
- Remove from the griddle and serve on a plate.
- Garnish with fresh parsley.
