Italian sausages with caramelized onions and apples

As fall is slowly refreshing our shortening days, it’s the perfect inspiration for a hearty lunch, using the sweet and savoury combination of caramelized apples and onions on my Cuisinart 360 XL griddle.
Add some italian sausages and you will have a delicious meal to warm your heart and bring comfort to your table.

Italian sausages with caramelized onions and apples

Equipment

  • 360 XL Griddle Outdoor Cooking Station (Cuisinart)

Ingredients
  

  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 5 italian sausages cut into ½ inch slices
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 small white onion thinly sliced
  • 2 apples peeled, cored and thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp apple cider
  • salt & pepper to taste
  • Italian parsley for garnishing

Instructions
 

  • Thinly slice the onion and the apples and set aside in a bowl.
  • Cut the italian sausages into ½ inch slices.
  • Start your griddle at hi and oil the surface.
  • Cook the italian sausages on one side and put the apples and onions on the other side.
  • Add the brown sugar on the apples and onions and stir.
  • Add some apple cider on top of the sausages.
  • Once the onions and apples starts to caramelize, stir them with the italian sausages.
  • Remove from the griddle and serve on a plate.
  • Garnish with fresh parsley.
