Equipment
- Pellet Grill
- Hickory smoking pellets
- 1 wire rack
Ingredients
- 1 pound bacon very thick-cut
- 2 tbsp Maple Syrup pure
- 1 tbsp pepper freshly ground
- 1 tbsp cayenne pepper powder
- 1 tbsp red pepper flakes
- 3 tbsp brown sugar dark
Instructions
- Fill your hopper of hickory pellets and preheat your pellet grill to 225°F.
- Add the black pepper, cayenne pepper, red pepper flakes, and brown sugar in a small bowl and mix well.
- Lay the slices of bacon on a wire rack. Make sure they are flat and not touching each other.
- Brush both sides of the bacon with maple syrup, then sprinkle each piece with the seasoning.
- Place the rack on your grill grates and close the lid. Smoke for about 1 hour and brush with the rest of the maple syrup.
- Smoke for another hour or until desired crispness is reached.
- You can serve the bacon warm or at room temperature. Enjoy!
Notes
- I used a high quality, nitrate free pork bacon.
- It's important to use REAL Maple syrup
- If you don't have a smoker, feel free to bake at 350 for 45 minutes.
